[Signia IX Series, Three Years On: The Flagship That Scored Worse Than the Model It Replaced - Until Someone Fitted It Properly](/blogs/comparisons/signia-ix-series-long-term-review)

In October 2023, Signia launched the Integrated Xperience platform - the IX Series - around a genuinely interesting idea: instead of pointing a microphone beam at one person, the hearing aid would track several moving speakers at once and keep up as a group conversation shifted around you. Three years later we can judge that promise against independent laboratory measurement, a full product family, and the reports of people who have worn these devices every day.
What emerged is the most instructive finding we have come across in any of our reviews, and it has very little to do with marketing. When an independent lab tested the IX using Signia's own default programming, it delivered less amplification than it should have - and actually scored worse than the older AX generation it replaced. When the same device was professionally fitted with real-ear measurement, it earned an A grade and outperformed AX. The technology is real. The out-of-the-box settings undersell it badly. This article lays out all of it - the features, the measured evidence, the owner complaints, the Indian prices and where IX now stands. We give information only. We do not tell you which hearing aid to buy.

On 24 August 2026, something remarkable happened: the world's two largest hearing aid groups launched competing flagship platforms on exactly the same day [1][2][3][4]. Signia released the Pure Charge&Go MaX; Phonak released the Audeo EON Sphere. Both are premium rechargeable receiver-in-canal hearing aids. Both use artificial intelligence to help you hear speech in noise. And yet they have taken almost opposite approaches to the same problem. Phonak concentrates enormous power on one task - pulling speech out of noise. Signia spreads intelligence across four tasks to manage the whole listening scene, and even campaigns against silence with the slogan "Live Noisy". This article lays out everything both devices offer, what they share, where they differ, and - most importantly - how to work out which one suits you. We will not declare a winner. By the end, you should be able to.

Here is something almost nobody tells you when comparing these two: **Unitron and Phonak are sister brands, both owned by the Swiss company Sonova** - and the new Unitron Smile platform and the Phonak Infinio family are built on the **same core chip, called ERA** [1][2][5]. So this is not a fight between rivals. It is more like two siblings who share the same brain but grew up with different personalities.

The real difference is what each brand chose to add on top. Phonak's top model adds a **second chip dedicated only to pulling speech out of noise** [2]. Unitron instead built its reputation on letting you **try the hearing aids at home, at different price levels, before you pay** [4].

In short: Phonak sells maximum performance in noise; Unitron sells maximum certainty before you spend. This guide explains both, in very simple words.

The Signia Styletto IX is a slim, rechargeable hearing aid that comes in three technology tiers: 7IX (premium), 5IX (advanced) and 3IX (essential). They look identical and share the same signature sound — the difference is how much automatic processing and how many features you get. In short: 7IX suits busy, demanding listeners; 5IX is the balanced all-rounder; 3IX covers everyday quieter lifestyles.
