What does a home hearing test include?
A home hearing test includes an ear check, a pure-tone hearing test and a speech test, done with a calibrated portable audiometer.
Ear check
We look into both ears with an otoscope to check for wax, infection or anything that needs a doctor.
Pure-tone test
With headphones on, you respond to soft beeps at different pitches. This measures your hearing in each ear.
Speech test
You repeat words at different volumes, so we know how clearly you understand speech.
Results and advice
We explain the results to you and your family, and what can help — with no pressure to buy.
Is anything done only at the clinic? Yes. The middle-ear test (tympanometry) is done at the clinic, using equipment that stays there. If your home test shows you need it, we book it for you at New Friends Colony or Hari Nagar.
Who is a home hearing test for?
A home hearing test is for anyone who finds a clinic visit difficult — most often senior citizens, people who are unwell or recovering from surgery, people with limited mobility, and families who want the whole household tested together.
Is a home hearing test as accurate as a clinic test?
A home hearing test gives reliable results for most people when the room is quiet. A clinic test room blocks outside noise completely, so if traffic or household noise affects the result, or the result is unclear, we recommend a clinic test to confirm it.
How do I prepare my home for the test?
To prepare for a home hearing test, choose the quietest room in the house, switch off the TV, fans and coolers if possible, and keep phones on silent for about 30 minutes. Keep old hearing reports and any hearing aids ready for the audiologist.
Does the home hearing test cost anything?
No. The home hearing test is free and there is no visit charge anywhere in Delhi NCR. If a hearing aid is recommended, the price per ear is given to you in writing — see the hearing aid price list.
