1. Two launches, two opposite answers to the same question
Something quietly fascinating happened in the hearing aid industry in the second half of 2026, and almost nobody has pointed it out.
Within a few weeks of each other, two major manufacturers launched premium artificial-intelligence hearing aids and gave directly opposing answers to the same question: in a noisy room full of voices, which voice should the hearing aid help you hear?
| Manufacturer's answer | How it is described |
|---|---|
| ReSound Sensia | Prioritise the person you are facing. A four-microphone beam points forward, on the logic that you turn towards whoever you want to hear |
| Bernafon Revita | Help you follow voices from the sides as well as the front, because conversation is dynamic and flows between people speaking at different angles |
Bernafon states its reasoning plainly on the Revita product page: "Speech is often dynamic, where conversations flow between people speaking at different angles to each other. That is why it's important that your hearing aid can help you follow voices from the sides as well as from the front" [1].
Neither company is being dishonest. They are simply optimising for different situations. And this matters to you far more than any specification sheet, because it depends on how you actually sit and talk. A person who has quiet one-to-one meals opposite one companion, and a person who eats with eight relatives at a long table where everyone interrupts, are not the same customer.
The honest way to read this article There is no correct philosophy here, and we will not pretend there is. Our aim is to describe accurately what Bernafon has built, so that you can judge whether its assumptions match your life.
2. What Bernafon has actually launched
Let us begin with plain, verifiable facts, because Revita is so new that a good deal of loose information is already circulating.
| Item | Verified detail |
|---|---|
| Product name | Bernafon Revita - marketed with the line "Your life in surprising clarity" |
| Maker | Bernafon AG, founded 1946 in Bern, Switzerland. Bernafon is part of the Demant group and is marking its 80th anniversary in 2026 |
| Sister brands in the same group | Oticon, Philips and Sonic hearing aids, plus Demant's retail and diagnostics businesses |
| Core technology | Two artificial-intelligence technologies working together: AI Smart Speech Finder and AI Smart Noise Reduction |
| Technology levels | Four - Revita 100 CONNECT, Revita 200 GO, Revita 300 ENGAGE, Revita 400 PRO |
| Style at launch | Rechargeable miniRITE R, in eight colours, plus a CROS II miniRITE R for single-sided deafness |
| Hearing loss range | Slight to profound, using the miniFit Detect speaker system in four power levels (60, 85, 100 and 105) |
| Connectivity | Bluetooth LE Audio, Bluetooth Low Energy, Auracast broadcast, hands-free calls, direct streaming, tap to answer |
| Telecoil | Yes - Bernafon lists the Revita miniRITE R as working with teleloop systems |
| Chargers | Bernafon Charger miniRITE, Charger Plus and Charger Plus X |
| India | Bernafon has a long-established presence in India, but no confirmed Indian launch date or official Revita price had been published at the time of writing |
One useful correction while we are here. Several Indian dealer websites state that Bernafon is distributed in India by Sonova. That is incorrect, and it is worth knowing: Sonova is the Swiss group behind Phonak - a competitor. Bernafon belongs to the Danish Demant group. If a website has that basic fact wrong, treat its pricing and specification claims with corresponding caution.
3. The two AI networks, in plain language
Bernafon describes Revita as using "two AI networks working seamlessly together" [1]. Here is what each is stated to do.
(a) AI Smart Speech Finder - finding the voices
Bernafon's description is that Smart Speech Finder "actively locates people who are speaking, helping you focus on their speech - wherever it's coming from" [1].
Those last four words carry the whole design philosophy. Most speech-enhancement systems work by narrowing what the hearing aid listens to, usually towards the front. Bernafon's stated approach is instead to find talkers wherever they happen to be and help you follow them, rather than deciding in advance that the important person must be straight ahead.
(b) AI Smart Noise Reduction - reducing the disruption
The second network "identifies disruptive background noise so it can increase the clarity of speech and improve your listening comfort" [1]. Note the wording: the emphasis is on comfort as well as clarity, which is consistent with Bernafon's long-standing positioning around listening ease rather than maximum aggression.
What Bernafon has not published At the time of writing, Bernafon had not published a chip name, a processing-platform name, or peer-reviewed clinical papers specifically branded to Revita on its consumer pages. That is not unusual for a consumer-facing launch, but it does mean some of what you will read elsewhere about Revita's internals is inference rather than published fact. We flag clearly in Section 8 which is which.
4. Four levels named after your life, not the technology
This is a small thing that we think deserves praise, because it solves a problem we see in our clinic almost every week.
Most manufacturers number their technology levels 9, 7, 5, 3 - and patients have no idea what those numbers mean. Bernafon has instead given each Revita level a name describing the social situation it is built for [1].
| Level | Ideal for talking with | Listening environment | Bernafon's description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revita 100 CONNECT | One person | Low noise | "Feel the joy of conversation." Enriches daily connections at home with family and friends; makes soft and loud voices clear for one-to-one conversation |
| Revita 200 GO | One person | Noisy | "Go out with confidence." For an active life on the go; comfortable, clear speech that cuts through noisy situations indoors and outdoors |
| Revita 300 ENGAGE | A group of people | Noisy | "Thrive in busy groups." For an active social life with more than one person - designed to help you feel part of the group in cafés or busy streets |
| Revita 400 PRO | A group of people | Very noisy | "Be ready for anything." The most advanced Bernafon technology, to help you follow what people say in any environment |
Why this matters practically: it makes the conversation with your audiologist honest. Instead of being sold "the best one", you are asked a question you can actually answer - do you mostly talk to one person or to groups, and how noisy are the places you go? If your life is quiet one-to-one conversation at home, a 400 PRO may be more technology than your situation requires. If you eat out with a large family every week, a 100 CONNECT will very likely disappoint you.
A caution that applies to every brand Friendly names do not remove the need to ask what is actually different between the levels. Ask your audiologist specifically which features are switched off at the lower levels, and get the answer before you pay - not after.
5. One style at launch - the limitation you must know about
Here is the most important practical fact in this article, and it is one the marketing will not lead with.
At launch, Bernafon lists Revita in a single style: the rechargeable miniRITE R, available in eight colours, together with a CROS II miniRITE R for people with single-sided deafness [2][3].
There are, at the time of writing, no Revita in-the-ear custom models - no IIC, no CIC, no ITC, no half shell or full shell. Bernafon offers those styles in its Encanta, Alpha and Entra families, but not yet in Revita.
| If you want... | Then be aware |
|---|---|
| A discreet in-the-ear or invisible hearing aid | Revita does not currently offer one. You would be looking at a different Bernafon family, or a different brand |
| A disposable-battery model | Revita launched as rechargeable only. Bernafon's battery-powered options sit in other families |
| A behind-the-ear power model | Bernafon's Leox family covers Super Power and Ultra Power needs; Revita's power comes through miniFit Detect speakers up to level 105 |
| A CROS or BiCROS solution | This is covered - Bernafon lists a CROS II miniRITE R alongside Revita |
This is a normal pattern. Manufacturers usually launch a new platform in one flagship style and add the rest over the following year - ReSound did the reverse this year by launching Sensia with a full custom range, but its custom models arrived without the flagship noise-processing feature. Every manufacturer trades something. The point is simply to know what you are buying today rather than what may exist next year.
6. Battery, charging and everyday practicality
Bernafon's headline claim here is refreshingly specific.
| Aspect | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Charging claim | "A full day of power. In just one hour." Bernafon states the rechargeable battery can easily give all-day power |
| Chargers available | Bernafon Charger miniRITE, Bernafon Charger Plus, and Bernafon Charger Plus X |
| Controls | Tap your hearing aid to answer an incoming call after a discreet notification |
| Colours | Eight |
| Fitting flexibility | miniFit Detect speaker system in four power levels, compatible with a range of domes and custom moulds |
| Accessories | Bernafon App, SoundClip-A, ClipMic, TV Adapter 3.0 |
| App features | Volume control per ear or together, mute surroundings, programme switching, battery check, sound equaliser, and HearingCoach to track progress |
A one-hour charge for a full day is a genuinely useful specification for Indian users, and worth asking about specifically. Many of our patients discover their real problem is not total battery life but recovery speed - forgetting to charge overnight, or needing a quick top-up before an evening function. A fast charge is more valuable in daily life than an extra few hours of maximum runtime.
We would still recommend asking your audiologist for the published runtime figures in hours from the technical data sheet, including runtime while streaming, since streaming consumes considerably more power than listening alone.
7. Connectivity, Auracast and music
- Bluetooth LE Audio and Bluetooth Low Energy are both supported, with hands-free calls and direct streaming for iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro, Apple Watch, Mac and selected Android devices [3].
- Auracast broadcast is supported - Bernafon gives the example of hearing train announcements directly in your hearing aids. It is accessed through the Bernafon App [1].
- An important footnote: Bernafon's own product page carries an asterisk stating Auracast is compatible through the Bernafon App with Android 10 or later [1]. If Auracast matters to you, confirm with your audiologist exactly what is required with your specific phone.
- Tap control answers incoming calls.
- The Music Experience programme is described by Bernafon as unique to its hearing aids, intended to make live, recorded and streamed music come alive [1].
- Google Fast Pair and the Easy LE Adapter appear in Bernafon's trademark notices; the Easy LE Adapter is manufactured by Minami Acoustics Limited and extends LE Audio to devices that do not natively support it [1].
An honest note about Auracast in India Auracast only helps where a venue has actually installed a transmitter, and in India that infrastructure remains very limited. It is sensible future-proofing rather than a benefit you will use next week. If a salesperson presents it as an everyday feature, ask them to name three places near you where you could use it.
8. The Oticon connection that no product page mentions
This section is the reason we believe this article is worth your time, because it is the part almost no consumer coverage explains - and it directly answers the question people keep asking us: is this real innovation, or a new name?
What is verified
- Bernafon is a Demant brand. Demant also owns Oticon, Philips and Sonic hearing aids. This is stated openly by the companies themselves.
- On 11–12 August 2026, Oticon launched Oticon Reveal, described as the world's first hearing aid powered by a Dual AI system, built on a new Reveal AI platform and representing the third generation of Oticon's AI sound processing [4][5].
- Oticon Reveal's Dual AI consists of two dedicated systems running simultaneously: a Speech AI that continuously identifies and enhances speech from people around the wearer, and a Context AI that analyses and preserves other sounds giving information about the environment [4][5].
- Demant publicly stated that "the new flagship hearing aid technology will be introduced across its other hearing aid brands… during the second half of 2026" [4].
- Bernafon Revita launched in exactly that window, built around two AI networks working together [1].
What is reasonable inference - and should be labelled as such
Putting those verified facts side by side, the most reasonable reading is that Bernafon Revita is Bernafon's implementation of the same new Demant flagship platform that Oticon launched as Reveal. We want to be careful and fair here: Bernafon has not published a platform name, and we have not seen a document from Demant stating in so many words that Revita and Reveal share a chip. So we present this as a well-founded inference from the company's own public statements, not as a confirmed technical fact. Your audiologist, who has access to professional fitting documentation, can confirm it for you.
Why this is completely normal - and why you should still know it
Large hearing groups routinely release the same underlying technology under several brand names, tuned and packaged differently for different markets and price points. It is not a scandal. It is how the industry works.
Some verified examples from 2026 alone: GN Hearing launched ReSound Sensia and its sibling family under the Beltone brand as Beltone Illuminate. Demant launched Oticon Reveal and stated the technology would spread across its other brands. Recognising these families helps you in two very practical ways.
- You can judge the evidence more fairly. Research published for the parent product is often relevant to the sibling, which gives you far more information than the smaller brand's own page provides.
- You can negotiate more sensibly. Sibling products with similar underlying technology are frequently offered at different prices. Knowing the family lets you ask informed questions rather than comparing marketing slogans.
One genuine difference worth noticing The two brands describe their second AI differently. Oticon calls it Context AI and stresses preserving meaningful surrounding sounds so the brain gets the full picture. Bernafon calls its second network Smart Noise Reduction and stresses identifying disruptive noise for clarity and comfort. Whether that reflects a real difference in tuning or only a difference in marketing language, neither company has said. It is a fair question to put to your audiologist.
9. Real innovation, or repackaging with flowery words?
You asked the question directly, so here is a direct treatment of both sides - and then we stop, because the conclusion is yours.
The case that there is real innovation here
- The Dual AI approach itself is a genuine architectural change. Running two dedicated AI systems simultaneously - one for speech, one for everything else - is different from using a single network to manage the whole scene, and Oticon describes it as the third generation of its AI sound processing on a new platform [4][5].
- There is measured evidence attached to the parent platform. Demant reports that Reveal produces a 60% stronger brain response than Oticon Intent, and that its new feedback-management system responds 30% faster with four times greater fitting precision than the previous technology [4].
- Feedback management and connectivity are not cosmetic. Faster, more precise feedback control lets a clinician deliver the amplification you actually need without whistling, which matters enormously for real-world satisfaction.
- The philosophy is consistent, not invented for the launch. Demant's BrainHearing approach - giving the brain access to the full sound scene rather than aggressively isolating speech - has been its stated position for many years. Revita's side-and-front design follows from it rather than contradicting it [4][5].
- The level naming and fitting flexibility are real usability improvements, even if they are not signal-processing breakthroughs.
The case that the newness is being oversold
- The core technology is not Bernafon's own launch story. On the evidence above, the platform arrived first as Oticon Reveal, and Demant said it would be rolled out across its brands. A buyer told this is "Bernafon's new AI breakthrough" is being given a partial picture.
- Almost every headline number belongs to the parent product, not to Revita. The 60%, 30% and four-times figures are published for Oticon Reveal. Bernafon has not published equivalent Revita-branded evidence on its consumer pages.
- All of the evidence is manufacturer-generated. HearingTracker and the independent HearAdvisor laboratory had not yet evaluated Oticon Reveal at the time of writing, and we found no independent laboratory testing of Revita at all [4].
- "60% stronger brain response" is not a promise about words understood. It is an electrophysiological measure. It is interesting and it is not nothing - but it is not the same as a speech-recognition score telling you how many more words you will catch at a wedding.
- Bernafon's own professional pages still headline Encanta as its most advanced family in some markets, which suggests a staged rollout rather than a completed global relaunch.
How to hold both of these at once Both columns above are true. There is real engineering behind Revita, and the marketing around it is doing more work than the published Revita-specific evidence can currently support. Those two statements do not cancel each other out.
What follows from that is not a verdict but a method: judge this hearing aid on how it performs on your ears, in your rooms, during a supervised trial - not on whose adjective is bolder. We are not going to tell you whether it is worth your money, because we cannot know that without testing your hearing.
10. How Revita sits beside Phonak, Signia and ReSound
2026 has been an extraordinary year. Four of the world's largest hearing groups launched premium AI platforms within weeks of one another. Below is a factual comparison of published information only.
Read the table as a description, not a scoreboard. We are not ranking these devices and we do not believe anyone honestly can on paper. Independent laboratory testing of all four was still pending at the time of writing, and the right hearing aid depends on your hearing loss, your ear anatomy, your lifestyle and your budget.
| What to look at | Bernafon Revita | ReSound Sensia | Phonak Audéo EON Sphere | Signia Pure CG MaX |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Group | Demant (Bernafon, Switzerland) | GN Hearing, Denmark | Sonova, Switzerland | WS Audiology |

What the four approaches really tell you
Strip away the branding and you are looking at four different beliefs about what a hearing aid should do in a noisy room.
- Bernafon Revita believes conversation is dynamic - it moves around you, so the hearing aid should find talkers wherever they are.
- ReSound Sensia believes the missing ingredient is intention - and reads your intention from the direction you are facing.
- Phonak Audéo EON Sphere believes in raw separation power - one dedicated chip doing one job as well as possible.
- Signia Pure Charge&Go MaX believes in breadth - several networks managing the whole scene, including your own voice.
None of these is obviously correct, and each suits a different person. Somebody who dines opposite one companion in quiet restaurants, somebody at a loud family function with talk coming from every side, somebody working amid constant machinery, and somebody distressed by the sound of their own voice will each be served differently. That is exactly why we give no verdict - and why one supervised trial tells you more than ten articles, including this one.
11. India: what we know today
- Bernafon is well established in India and has been sold here for many years through an authorised network, so service and support are not a concern in the way they might be for an unfamiliar brand.
- No official Indian launch date or price for Revita had been published at the time of writing. Any figure you see quoted online today is an estimate rather than an official price.
- Bernafon is a Demant brand, not a Sonova brand - a number of Indian dealer pages get this wrong, as noted earlier.
- Bernafon's Encanta family is already available in India and shares the brand's fitting approach and app. If Revita is not yet available when you visit a clinic, Encanta is the sensible thing to trial and compare against.
- Practical advice: ask an authorised Bernafon clinic to register your interest so you are informed when Indian availability and pricing are confirmed, rather than relying on resellers and forums.
If you would like to be told the moment Revita reaches India - with the actual price, not an estimate - you can put your name down with us now. There is no cost and no obligation, and we will also let you know if something better suited to your hearing arrives first.

12. Questions to ask before you commit
Whichever brand you are considering, these questions protect you. Take this list with you.
| Ask this | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which level am I being quoted - 100, 200, 300 or 400? | The four levels are built for different social situations. The wrong level is the most common cause of disappointment |
| What exactly is switched off at the lower levels? | Get the specific feature list before you pay, not after |
| Which speaker power is being fitted, and why? | Revita uses four miniFit Detect power levels; the wrong choice limits what the device can do for your loss |
| Can I trial it in my own difficult rooms? | A quiet fitting room proves nothing about a wedding hall, a market or a family dinner |
| How does it handle someone speaking from my side? | This is Revita's central claim. Test it deliberately, with a real person, before you buy |
| Is this device related to another product in the same group? | A fair question, and a good audiologist will answer it honestly |
| Has it been verified on my ears with real-ear measurement? | Fitting formulas only help if the output is verified in your own ear canal |
| What is included - follow-ups, warranty, servicing - and what is the written return policy? | In India the service package often matters more to long-term satisfaction than the model |
13. The bottom line
Bernafon Revita's most interesting contribution is a refusal. It refuses to assume that the voice you want is the one in front of you.
That is a real design position with real consequences. It fits the way many Indian families actually talk — around a table, across a room, several people at once, everybody interrupting. It also carries a cost, because a system that stays open to all directions is not concentrating all its effort on one. Whether that trade suits you depends entirely on the rooms you live in.
The engineering underneath appears to be genuinely new for the Demant group, with measured claims attached to the parent platform. But those claims belong to Oticon Reveal, not to Revita specifically; the evidence is manufacturer-generated; independent testing has not been published; the launch offers one style; and India has no confirmed date or price.
All of that is true at once, and none of it decides anything for you. Our job is to give you verified information and to be honest about its limits. The decision about which hearing aid is right for you belongs to you, made with your audiologist, on your own ears, in the rooms where you actually struggle to hear.
